Submissions are now being accepting from educational presenters for the:

SummitUp

District 42 Fall Conference,

Saturday November 13, 2010,

Radisson Hotel, Canmore, Alberta

The theme is Summit Up .  Use your table topics or thinking out of the box experience, and make  a connection, either direct or indirect, to the theme with  your topic.

Presentations will be 45 minutes, including Q&A, and audiences should leave with a piece of knowledge that has helped their personal development.   If you feel 45 minutes is too short, please look up the word pauciloquent (that’s your grammarian teaching for the day ).

Can a participant leave your session having learned something new (or something old now seen in a different way)?

Will you sesson inspire them to make a change?  A change could be as simple as “I’m not going to use the salt shaker 3 days a week”.

We are after hands on or practical topics (which may or may not be related to public speaking); we are not after abstract philosophies.  For example, we don’t want a lecture on levitation; but if you can make audience members learn how to float away from the room, we’re open to your topic.

To cut down on costs, we ask that presenters be self sufficient.  If you need it, you will be required to bring laptop, projector, music, speakers, handouts, food, tricks, gimmicks, etc.

The rooms will be small enough that microphones will not be needed, but you need a voice that can be heard in a room of up to 50 people.

A “Toastmaster” will be assigned to you, to open/introduce you, and to close your session.

Note:  Any Toastmasters hoping to win their club, area and division contests, and then compete at the District Table Topics and/or Humorous Contest, you are not allowed to also present an educational.

Guidelines for submitting a presentation proposal

Educational Session Title, Description and Learning Objectives:

  • Please consider your session title carefully.  The title is the key identifier of the session and attendees will expect the title to reflect the primary focus of the session.  Your title alone will draw in, or deter attendees.  However, we’re not after titles of “Free Chocolate”, when the topic is how to frame a roof.

  • Educational session descriptions should to be clear and concise without any jargon.

  • Learning objectives should make reference (directly or indirectly) to the theme of “Summit Up”

Submission Instructions:

  • Complete all areas of the Presentation Proposal Form in MS-Word format.  While you may have a beautiful and powerful brochure describing your wonderful and meaningful presentation, the Proposal Form must be filled out.  You may supplement the email with other information you feel is relevant.

  • For your submission to be reviewed by the Conference Educational Committee, email the completed form/application to     by August 31, 2010

  • Thank you, we’re looking forward to seeing your presentation ideas…
